“Working the View” was a two year joint project by Mark Butler (photographer) and Sarah Butler (writer) to produce an exhibition and book of landscape photographs of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with accompanying texts exploring the relationship between the landscape and its guardians.
Each participant was asked to select several of their favourite views, which Mark then photographed. Sarah interviewed each participant to explore the reasons why they love this view and the work they do to protect the landscape for others.
The results were shown in a series of exhibitions (now all finished) and a coffee table book (still available to buy from the Yorkshire Dales National Park shop).
The menus below this heading now show the first 10 interviews from the book (the rest will follow once all the books are sold!). We hope you enjoy it.
This project is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
