From the road by the quarry entrance, head west along the road, being wary of traffic on this narrow road. At the 90° bend, continue around to the right, following the signs to the campsite (Wood Nook).

The campsite entrance comes off the lane to your left, marked by large stone gateposts with red cast iron gates. Go through these and follow the road to the campsite and then through it, following the footpath signs to a stile in the top corner of the site.

Cross the stile and then the stream and follow the clearly marked footpath up the valley. Exiting the woodland area by a stile in front of a large field barn continue up the valley through a gate and follow the wall to your right.

At the end of this wall, go through the gap and follow the footpath signed off to your left (to Boss Moor). Follow the fenced path then turn left through a gate onto a Bridleway.

Follow the Bridleway across the moor, then along a walled track. When this leads back onto open moor, follow the wall on your right to a T-junction with another Bridleway.

Take the Bridleway to the left and follow for around a kilometre to an area of old mine workings. Off to your left you will see a gate in the wall, at the beginning of a walled green lane. Take a path which leads off the Bridleway to your left to reach this.

Follow this lane to its end, turn right along another lane to the 90° bend in the road just after the quarry at the start of the walk.
