An ideal walk for lunchtime or early evening, this route goes between 3 pubs, all serving great food and beer with many fantastic views down Wharfedale in between.
Buckden to Cray – 45 minutes
From the National Park car park in Buckden, go through the gate and up the track that makes its way up the hillside to the North of the car park. Follow this track around the edge of the valley until you are almost level with the pub in Cray on your left. A gate in the wall takes you onto a footpath which drops steeply down the hill to cross the stream in front of the pub over some stepping stones.
Cray to Hubberholme – 45 minutes
From the White Lion Inn at Cray, follow the track round the back of the pub. Go straight through gates in the farmyard and continue to follow the track, ignoring the footpath that goes off to your left. The track turns into a path following the hillside round and when it meets a house and barns (Scar House), go through these and follow the concrete drive down into Hubberholme. Go round the church, across the bridge to The George Inn.
Hubberholme to Buckden – 30 minutes
Turn right out of the pub and follow the single track road (on the pub side of the river) past the houses until you see a footpath signed off to the left. Follow this footpath through the field, then alongside the river, until it reaches the road just outside Buckden. Turn left onto the road, over the bridge and up into Buckden to The Buck Inn.
